Analytic Jewish Philosophy

Jewish philosophy has (quite incredibly) only recently begun to "interact" substantially with analytic philosophy, the leading philosophical current in the Anglophone world for the past century. A growing number of philosophers are starting to use analytic philosophical tools and insights to explore Jewish texts and traditions, and to draw on currents in Jewish thought and philosophy to make original contributions to the broader field of analytic philosophy.  We will work through some of the recent literature produced in this new "movement", and think through the ways in which this marriage between analytic philosophy and Jewish philosophy might open new avenues in both disciplines.
